Personality: Kazuma’s personality can change under different circumstances. During battle and his duties as the Hou-oukage, he is usually more of a cold, intelligent, and unemotional shinobi. He can be more of an open and friendly person when he is with people who have grown close to him or when he gets a chance to relax in his village during peaceful times. His position as the leader of his village has kept him from forming any intimate friendships or any kind of relationship so far, and he sometimes hates his rank. Overall, his personality makes him an effective leader who almost always knows what to do in order to protect his village and its residents.

History: Kazuma was born into the famed Kannagai clan of the Hidden Village of the Phoenix. The Kannagi clan was famous for its powerful fire jutsus and producing incredible shinobi. Kazuma was born into the main family and was heir to the entire clan. He would have become its new leader when the old one stepped down, but there was a big problem. Most members of the Kannagi could master at least one or two of the clan fire jutsus by the age of 10, but Kazuma was showing no signs of having the ability to use them when he was already 12. Disgusted by his apparent lack of talent, his father banished him from the clan and told Kazuma that he did not consider him his son anymore. Kazuma was now forced to wander the village without any family or friends, although he didn’t hesitate to steal the Kannagi clan’s fabled blade of flames, the Enraiha, on his way out. He still trained hard to learn skills of a shinobi and his clan’s fire techniques every day and was finally showing some progress. Much to his own surprise, he started to get more skilled each day and by the age of 17, he could be considered a shinobi prodigy. It was around this time that Kazuma encountered the Hou-ou, the Vermillion Phoenix. He had been doing his normal private training outside of the village when he caught a glimpse of the spirit. The intense red chakra caught his eye, and he chased the spirit for as long as possible until the phoenix actually stopped. Being a noble and good spirit, the phoenix understood Kazuma’s story immediately and was even willing to help him. Kazuma performed a powerful self-sealing jutsu that he had learned during his short time with the Kannagi clan and sealed the spirit into himself. This further increased his power and mastery of fire techniques, and it was one of the main reasons that the village decided to elect him as the Hou-oukage at such a young age. Kazuma was fascinated at the red eyes, slightly red hair, and the strange mark on his lower back that the spirit had bestowed upon him, and he is glad that he can sometimes rely on the Hou-ou’s power to protect the village during a crisis. He is no longer bitter towards his old clan, the Kannagi clan, because he has already proven that he is more powerful than anyone and that it was a mistake for them to banish him. He has declined all of their offers to rejoin the family and become the head of the clan, and he only keeps the name Kannagi as his family name for nostalgic reasons.
